How to Setup Exchange Active Sync for the iPhone


Required:

It is required that the iPhone have software version 2.0. Those with versions prior to this release will not be able to configure Exchange Activesync for the iPhone. Activesync must also be enabled for the mailbox. Please have the administrator of the account enable it before continuing.


Procedure:

Warning: If you choose to sync your contacts, the existing contacts will be removed and then synced with the contacts on the server.

From the Home Screen...

Tap, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange.

  1. Email Address: Type your primary email address. The same address used to login to Outlook
  2. Username: Same as in step one. The same address used to login to Outlook
  3. Password: Your exchange mailbox password. the same password used to login to Outlook
  4. Tap Next
  5. The IPhone will start verifying the settings.
  6. A new Server field will appear.
  7. Server:
    1. Exchange 2003: mail.hostedmsexchange.com
    2. Exchange 2007: mail.4emm.com
    3. Exchange 2010: mail.4emm.com
  8. Tap Next
  9. Choose which items will sync.
  10. Tap Save.

How many days of mail does the iPhone sync?

By Default it will sync 3 days worth of mail. To change this settings:

From the Home Screen

  1. Tap, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar
  2. Tap "Mail days to sync"
  3. Select your preferred days to sync
